Role Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit an experienced People Advisor (HR) based in our site in Brockworth, Gloucestershire.

The successful candidate will provide a professional service covering all aspects of HR and any responsibilities connected with employee and resource management.  The role will include supporting a culture of continuous improvement to ensure that all contract objectives are achieved and maintained through the performance of people.

How will you contribute?

  • Reporting to the Regional People Manager, with a dotted line to the contract Leadership Team
  • Ensure all policies and procedures are followed in line with local agreements
  • Have a good understanding of employment legislation and ensures practices are carried out in line with changes in legislation
  • Assists departmental managers on the interpretation of company policies and procedures
  • Support in delivering the Wincanton People plan
  • Active involvement in all colleague engagement initiatives
  • Supporting the development and implementation of People initiatives and systems
  • Provide a professional HR service to all colleagues
  • Ensure accurate operation of HR/Time and attendance and other systems
  • Experience of supporting colleagues back to the work place from long term absence
  • Management of sickness reporting any anomalies to the Leadership Team
  • Prepare statistical breakdowns including analysis of sickness/absence and holidays
  • Assists in disciplinary / grievance hearings, advising on legislative and company policy and procedures
  • Contribute towards the improvement of processes and methods of operating practices within the site
  • Assist in the coaching, mentoring and development of the management team
  • Support Managers on any payroll queries
  • Promote and support the Wincanton health and wellbeing agenda

What will you bring?

  • Previous experience within a similar role
  • Ideally level 5 CIPD qualified
  • Competent knowledge of employment law
  • Previous experience in a supply chain 3rd party environment would be desirable
  • Previous experience of absence management
  • Previous experience of TUPE
  • Experience within a unionised environment
  • Previous experience of HR systems and payroll an advantage
  • Excellent PC skills
  • Ability to plan and prioritise workload, working under pressure to tight deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Confidential and professional approach
