Role Overview

An exciting opportunity for Facilities Manager Role is being created in our New Customer Fulfilment Centre for Waitrose in Greenford.  This is a complex and challenging role and will give the successful candidate an opportunity to become part of the senior management team on site, helping to ensure the smooth running of the operations. To be successful you will have had significant experience in a similar logistics business and understand the issues which come with managing a shared user site and multi-temperature facility. Set-up the site-based facilities requirements, and proactively manage preventative maintenance schedules ensuring appropriate due diligence and compliance standards are always met. Monitor and track contractors ‘performance against key KPI’s and present action plans to the site management team Ensure budgets are carefully monitored and appropriate rationale provided for spend requests.

This new partnership with Waitrose is a key strategic priority for Wincanton and allows us to bring together our substantial capabilities in Food Logistics, Home Delivery, Customer Experience and Online Fulfilment. It's an industry first as Wincanton will be the only third-party logistics provider in the UK to operate an online Grocery Customer Fulfilment Centre.

How will you contribute?

  • Day to day management of the site and its grounds
  • Responsible for ensuring that the site is kept to a standard that meets all H&S/legislative requirements
  • Responsible for ensuring that the site has all the appropriate fixtures/fittings in place and that it is maintained to a suitable standard
  • Assists FM contractors in identifying and resolving facility compliance issues
  • Specified involvement in projects
  • Performs regularly scheduled building inspections and determines which issues need to be addressed and the plan for addressing them
  • Provides technical support in coordinating facility services in support of the site and any events/meetings that are held on site
  • Work with FM providers to ensure all environmental initiatives are completed
  • Work with FM and other site managers to ensure facility is a safe place to work
  • Responsibility for the overall plant and refrigeration of the site

What will you bring?

  • 5 years facilities management experience in a similar sized centre
  • Previous experience of operating of a multi-temperature site
  • Strong communication skills
  • IT and facility management systems literate.
  • L8 Control of legionella
  • Understand the 17th edition wiring Regs 2008 including HV & LV electrical systems
  • Experience of industrial refrigeration
  • H&S qualification, either IOSSH or NEBOSH
  • Basic understanding of plumbing including pumps, sprinklers & pipe work.
  • Ability to build strong and effective relationships by demonstrating knowledge, integrity, reliability and professionalism 
  • Strong and succinct communication skills with the ability to influence across all levels (internally and externally)
  • Experience of site security operations to include; visitor access, security gates/scanners, CCTV, product protection, investigations etc
