Fleet Team Manager

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Fleet Manager to join our successful team at our 550,000 sq ft multi temperature distribution centre in Sherburn in Elmet dedicated to Sainsbury’s.

This is a key role within the operation, with responsibility to effectively manage and maintain site fleet and MHE.

 The Role:

  • Reporting to the Transport & Warehouse Managers.
  • Provide daily fleet reports for both the operation and customer, including VOR and damage/repair cost reports.
  • Work closely with on-site VMU to ensure compliance and repairs are carried out to correct standards and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure legal compliance is achieved and all service and MOT schedules are adhered to.
  • Monitor and manage fleet damage, highlighting trends and preventative action.
  • Maintain good working relationships with business partners regarding Fleet and MHE.
  • Work closely with respective departments and the customer to ensure correct levels of equipment meets operational demand, including leasing and de leasing of fleet/MHE.
  • Manage the fleet office and colleague’s performance. 
  • Undertake such duties as may be reasonably required for the effective operation of the function and department

The Person:

  • Experience of working within a transport and warehouse environment.
  • Knowledge of transport and MHE legislation.
  • Experience and/or mechanical knowledge in a transport environment.
  • Knowledge of service and MOT scheduling.
  • Experience of supervising / managing a team
  • Experience of disciplinary / grievance procedures.
  • Ability to work on your own initiative, working to strict deadlines
  • A good communicator both verbal and written
  • Excellent PC skills
  • A flexible team based approach
  • General awareness of health and safety

The above position may include shift and weekend work as the depot operates 24 /7, therefore it is essential that you are flexible in your approach to work.
