Role Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Administrator to join our Head Office team in Chippenham. The person will work in our ESS team supporting the monthly payroll activity.

How will you contribute?

  • Actively support the central payroll management team with the duties in ensure that Wincanton delivers accurate payrolls.
  • Act as the point of contact with the ticketing system, investigating tickets that have been raised and liaising with the various stakeholders to resolve issues, by exception and where needed, work with the payroll management team gain knowledge or resolve more complex issues.
  • Providing professional administration support through ensure that information is gathered from and delivered to third parties in a safe and secure way that doesn’t leave Wincanton or it suppliers exposed to GDPR issues.  Confirming that all payroll files have been received by the 3rd party.
  • Actively get involved in managing and processing payroll data, acting within agreed Service Level Agreements, as and when required to support.
  • Handling sensitive and confidential data and pay transactions, that require accuracy and discretion, throughout.  Maintain a high level of professional confidentiality and accuracy at all times.
  • Monitor and track payroll related activities to make sure that these are communicated in plenty of time and are being delivered on time and to the required expectations.  Where issues arise, raise this in a proactive way so that they can be resolved as soon as practically possible.
  • Ensure all administration within the payroll management team is completed on time and in a way that is auditable.  Make sure that non-standard requests are analysed quickly and escalated in a timely fashion.
  • From time to time you may be asked to complete activities and duties outside of this job description that aid the smooth running of the wider HR team and Wincanton.


What will you bring?

  • Previous Kronos and Payroll experience desirable
  • Applicants must be proficient in MS Office, Excel
  • Motivated to be able to work under pressure and the ability to meet tight deadlines;
  • Excellent communication skills and confident in dealing with problems and challenges;
  • Ability to work as part of a team with a positive attitude;
  • Enthusiastic, flexible, reliable and highly organised;
