Role Overview

Reporting to a Lead Quality Inspector, the individual will provide effective quality inspection to support logistics activities and ensure standards are maintained to meet all key performance indicators and exceed customer expectations.

Key Accountabilities

  • Complete Inspection activities for goods entering and leaving the business
  • Complete and sign off Certificates of Conformance and similar documentation
  • Complete relevant documentation for non-conforming goods and carry out Inspections within the facility
  • Support with investigations and identifying root causes, escalating any issues to management
  • Ensure the correct handling of all customer products is carried out at all times
  • Support and provide training to new and existing employees
  • Comply with Wincanton Health & Safety policies and guidelines, as well as other Wincanton policies and procedures
  • Work in a team environment
  • Operate both customer and Wincanton IT systems as required
  • Be committed to continuous development in line with operational needs, constantly striving for increased efficiency, productivity and growth
  • A range of duties to support the operational efficiency and general housekeeping and hygiene standards of the warehouse and site
  • To undertake such additional duties as may be reasonably required

Selection Criteria

Candidates being selected should have one of the following:

  • Be a skilled person and have served a recognised apprenticeship.
  • Gained equivalent qualification such as NVQ level 3.
  • Have an equivalent British military qualification,
  • Have previous experience specific to the role.
  • Have been trained to a level specific to the role.

Skills and Experience

  • Able to provide and understand the need for a high standard of customer service
  • A proactive, flexible and “can do” attitude to resolve issues and challenges
  • The individual needs to be able to demonstrate attention to detail and an accurate and precise way of working
  • PC literate and numerate with good communication skills, including a good understanding of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work as part of a team but also independently and show initiative
  • Flexibility is required regarding shift patterns
  • Possess a positive attitude with a keen and enthusiastic approach
  • Ability to use IT systems in accordance with training provided
  • Attention to detail required to assume quality checking / quality control
  • Ability to train others to a high standard
  • Compliance with manual handling procedures
