Role Profile

We are looking for Class 1 & Class 2 Truck Drivers to join our Ready-Mix Concrete Mixer fleet, delivering to construction sites throughout your region

What do our drivers get:

  • £11.25ph – For Class 1 drivers
  • £10.23ph – For Class 2 drivers
  • £15.35ph – £16.88ph – For Sunday and Bank Holiday working
  • £25.00 – Per night out
  • Up to £1,600pa – Incentive Scheme
  • Up to £1,500pa – Winter Bonus


  • Guaranteed 48 hour permeant contract – 55 hours a week
  • Paid in-depth induction & training programme
  • Full uniform and PPE
  • Mineral Products Qualification and SUDs courses (Registered for DCPC) paid for
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays
  • £500 for recommending a driver friend, and your friend also gets £250
  • Fully paid training course for MPQC qualification card
  • Vehicle - Gold FORS spec, Class 2 - 8 legger with an 8 metre British McPhee drum

Winter Bonus:

  • £500 bonus applied upon completion of 6 months service**
  • £1,000 bonus applied upon completion of 1 years’ service
  • Bonus is discretionary and any negligent performance will be considered prior to award

Incentive scheme:

The bonus scheme is split in to four measurable and awarding categories each to the value of £100. These total the attainable award of £400 per quarter and to the value of £1,600 within a year in addition to the annual salary.

To be measured and paid quarterly:

  • April/May/June – Paid July
  • July/August/September – Paid October
  • October/November/December – Paid January
  • January/February/March – Paid April

Basic salary - £25,534 - £28,080pa – Based 48 hours worked with no uplifts

Potential Salary - £30,737.50 pa – Based on a Class 1 driver working 50 hours per week and achieving full incentive and bonus

Potential Salary - £28,095.70  pa – Based on a Class 2 driver working 50 hours per week and achieving full incentive and bonus

Some Saturday working will be required - minimum of 8 hours paid regardless of hours worked

What we expect from our drivers -

  • To be able to nights out 2 times per week in a Class 2 truck
  • support depots when other drivers are sick or on holiday or due to high work demands
  • Take pride in your vehicle and ensure it is cleaned through the working day and after each delivery.
  • Complete the daily end of work cleaning procedure on the inside of the mixer drum
  • Operate your vehicle efficiently and have a good geographical knowledge of the area
  • Be punctual, have good communication skills with our clients and complete relevant paperwork
  • Be willing to learn new skills and attend all company training programmes
  • Wear driver uniform and PPE to be worn
  • Be an ambassador for the company and Wincanton brand

Experience and Qualifications

  • Must hold a valid HGV LGV Class 1 (C+E) licence
  • Or a valid HGV LGV Class 2 licence
  • Must hold a valid Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (DCPC Card)
  • Must hold a Digital Tachograph card
  • Must not have more than 6 points on your licence
  • Readymix Experience preferable
  • Must have a minimum of 1 years HGV driving experience
  • Must have recent experience within the construction industry i.e building sites or quarries
  • Must be able to demonstrate the operation of a rigid vehicle around tight spaces
  • Must be able to work Saturday’s and be flexible within your working time
  • Be enthusiastic, reliable and customer focused, with the ability to maintain positive internal and external customer relationships
  • Be punctual, have good communication skills and work ethic
  • Good geographical knowledge is beneficial
  • Be willing to learn new skills
