Role Overview

HR Business Partner

Consumer

Midlands (with national travel)

We are looking for a commercially aware and results driven HR Business Partner (HRBP) for our Consumer Business Unit. This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast paced, growing and innovative business where you can really add value. Reporting into the HR Director for Retail & Consumer, the HRBP will partner with the Business Unit Director and General Managers to design, lead and execute both the Operational and People plans for the Business Unit

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Business Unit leadership team to develop and deliver its business plan and financial targets. Align HR priorities to this plan and broader corporate business priorities
  • Play an active role in business review meetings and be a full contributor to both the operational and HR agendas
  • Lead on all people aspects related to new business growth and existing customer retention to incl. bid support, customer meetings and TUPE transfers
  • Own and drive resource planning, talent development and capability improvement across the business unit, working in partnership with the Head of Talent and Resourcing
  • Ensure the business unit has the 'right' organisational structures in place to deliver operational excellence, support growth and the management of cost
  • Drive a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that delivers exceptional value to our customers
  • Lead and support on key corporate/customer business change activities
  • Develop clear employee relations priorities for the business unit and build strong relationships with key union officials to resolve any disputes and build a harmonious working environment
  • Provide support, guidance and counsel to senior managers and business unit HR teams on complex employee relations cases and its application in a unionised environment
  • Support contract/site-based collective bargaining negotiations and contractual changes that require consultation
  • Deliver all core HR cycle activities and provide feedback to shape what's needed in the business.
  • Deliver improvements in key people metrics and KPI's i.e. Engagement, Absence, Retention, Internal Development, Recruitment and Productivity
  • Build strong relationships with new and existing customers and key internal stakeholders in HR and across central support teams
  • Lead, manage and develop a team of geographically dispersed HR partners across 10-12 key locations
  • Contribute to corporate wide HR projects

Skills & Attributes

  • A track record of success gained in a fast-paced, cost-conscious and customer focussed businesses. Experience within Logistics or FMCG Manufacturing is essential
  • In depth generalist HR experience in unionised environments
  • Degree educated or equivalent
  • CIPD qualified
  • Exposure to leading organisational change in a complex employee relations environment (including TUPE and restructures)
  • An understanding of how to build organisational capability through effective talent management, succession planning and learning and development
  • Credibility to interact with senior stakeholders
  • Excellent relationship building skills
  • Financially aware, commercial, numerate and able to identify and enable key levers for business success
  • Robust, resilient and diplomatic
  • A strong customer service mindset when dealing with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Capacity to deal with a wide range of stakeholders with conflicting priorities
  • Ability to meet deadlines and cope with pressure
  • High levels of passion, positivity and drive
