Role Overview

Finance Manager – Energy

Location: Chippenham with UK travel

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Energy business in a new role as Finance Manager. Reporting to the contract accountant, the successful candidate will act as a trusted business partner in a demanding operational environment.

Main duties:

  • Ensure customer and Wincanton weekly and period reporting is on time, accurate and meaningful to drive business performance
  • Work alongside the operations team to develop strong commercial awareness
  • Develop meaningful management information reporting
  • Reporting and monitoring of key performance indicators
  • Ensure financial controls are in place and are adhered to
  • Regular review of the contract balance sheet
  • Debt and cash management
  • Further develop budget and forecasting models, improving forecasting accuracy
  • Ensure contractual pricing mechanisms are applied
  • Commercial support to the business, supporting ad-hoc commercial requirements in a timely and accurate fashion providing information for decision making

Person Profile:

  • Demonstrate drive, energy and a commitment to the continuous improvement of overall contract performance.
  • Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines whilst maintaining high standards
  • Have excellent PC skills – advanced excel skills essential
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Can do attitude with willingness to challenge the status quo
  • Be inquisitive with a passion for challenging teams to drive performance
  • Flexible and willing to do any tasks to ensure objectives are met
  • Demonstrate previous relevant experience


  • Fully qualified/finalist accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA) or qualified by experience, with ambition to develop a career within Wincanton
